There are situations that make you really sad. This one is about an overly nice landlord, who got caught in a difficult situation because of a combination of his kindness, the law and his tenant.
Last year, the landlord signed a lease starting on July 1, 2021 and ending on June 30, 2022. Shortly before the first of July, the landlord receives a call from his tenant informing him that he cannot move before July 4, 2021. He asked the landlord to change the lease so that it starts on July 4, 2021 and ends on June 30, 2022. The landlord agreed to change the dates on the lease. In March 2022, the landlord sends a notice of modification of the lease to his tenant informing him of the conditions of the renewal.
