The Association of Quebec Landlords in support of cultural integration

The Association of Quebec Landlords (APQ) is proud to announce its support for diversity and cultural inclusion. In order to promote diversity and help the newcomers the APQ makes its resources available to newcomers.

Indeed, the APQ will provide training and information capsules on the rights and obligations of newcomers, both to new tenants and to new property investors. We will also provide them, among others, the possibility to have access to the privileged bank of APQ Verified Buildings.

“We are proud to participate in the process of welcoming newcomers. Let us not forget that immigrants contribute to our economy. Promoting their integration can only be a win-win solution,” says Martin Messier, president of the APQ at the announcement of the project.

The APQ believes that welcoming newcomers goes through awareness of our rights and lifestyles, but also by educating owners of rental properties to the reality of the newcomers.

Moreover, this mission is in line with one aspect of the mission of the APQ which consists in fostering the relationship between the Good Owner and the Good Tenant. By renting to a newcomer one also contributes to their cultural integration in our community.

“Often, newcomers are long-term tenants who pay well. One must just tell them about the correct attitude concerning their rights and obligations towards rental housing so that they can become great tenants,” added Mr. Messier.

Founded in 1984, the Association of Quebec Landlords (APQ) is the most important association providing services to owners of rental housing while being present in all regions of Quebec.
