CMHC conducts the Rental Market Survey every year in October to estimate the relative strengths of the rental market in the housing sector.
The survey is conducted on a sample basis in all urban areas with a population of 10,000 and more.
The survey only targets privately initiated structures on the market for a minimum of 3 months with at least 3 rental units. The survey collects market rents, as well as vacancy and turnover data for all sampled structures.
Information gathered in the Rental Market Survey will be released in this year’s Rental Market Reports for applicable centres.
