Landlord-members of the APQ from the Gatineau region have participated in a training session which was given by the president of the organization, Mr. Martin Messier, and whose subjects were: setting of the rental rate and presentation before the Rental Board.
There are rules to follow when one renews and modifies a lease in residential renting. Mr. Messier explained in detail the course to follow, starting with the notice of modification of a lease up to the setting of the rent before the Rental Board, if the parties do not get along. He has invited the landlords to prudence when it is necessary to assemble a file and to present oneself before the Rental Board in order to avoid knowing a decision which could even have for effect to cause a reduction of the tenant’s current rent.
In case of rent setting before the Rental Board, it is necessary to assemble a file which makes it possible to introduce there all of the incurred expenditure, without forgetting major works of course. Moreover, a schedule prepared by the APQ is available on the Association’s website at: www.apq.org .
