Cannabis cultivation at home: The Supreme Court will hear the case in September 2022

It will be necessary to wait for the results of the hearing at the Supreme Court in the week of September 12 to 16, 2022 in Ottawa to know the fate of the production of cannabis at home in Quebec.

By agreeing to hear this case, the country’s highest court could rule that the current provisions prohibiting the cultivation of cannabis at home must be struck down.

If this is the case, it would mean that tenants could grow cannabis at home.

The Association des Propriétaires du Québec (APQ) reminds you that it provides its Silver, Gold and Platinum members with a guide on “Cannabis: smoking and cultivation”. This guide is the best effort to try to limit the impacts without providing a guarantee since the courts will have to rule on this type of regulation in the event of a dispute by the tenant in the future.

You will find it in the Documents section Documents | Québec Landlords Association (apq.org)
