Bikes in the corridors: Even in winter we find them!

Bikes in the corridors: Even in winter we find them!

For many cities, increasing cycle paths and removing snow in winter is an alternative to climate change.
This is among other things the case in Montreal in addition to BIXI bikes which are offered all year round.
On April 2, the City of Montreal announced that "Montreal's cycling network extends over 1,065 kilometers. It is made up of cycle paths and lanes, of which 729 kilometers are passable all year round."

In Sherbrooke, 187 km of cycle links have been built out of 238 km planned by 2030.
In winter: winter cycle route totaling 9 km, secure and benefiting from maintenance as high a priority as the sidewalks of arterial roads and school corridors.

For a homeowner, bicycles in the summer represent a headache for their storage. Some will have to adapt their behavior even in winter.

In the case of a rental property owner, the question "Where am I going to store my bike?" does not arise of course. The garden, the shed or the garage will always be effective options.

In some buildings, there are bicycle racks or dedicated locations, but when residents do not have access to facilities or sheds or storage rooms, what shall they do with their bikes?

Residents will park their bikes in the hallways of the building. Many will also put padlocks to prevent their bikes from being stolen.

However, this practice is not only illegal but also dangerous at the level of the fire service, just like strollers, scooters or shoes and winter boots in the corridors can be a dangerous impediment.
