The best time to check your house is when the weatherman puts it to the test!
At the time of rainy days, take advantage to ensure yourself that your investment does not run away! It is indeed during these days when heavy rain hits your house from an unusual angle, where the winds will put the solidity of your external coatings to the test that you have the chance to inspect your house visually.
When it rains, stay inside and concentrate on your walls of foundation, in order to ensure yourself that your drains function well. Make sure that your windows do not let water enter and that your doors are also quite tight.
On the walls of foundation, inspect each recess using a flashlight in order to detect the smallest trace of water. Take photographs and carry out repairs during the week. Never neglect water infiltration: water infiltrations are the greatest causes of recall and prosecutions because they can require much investment. Act quickly.
Look at your doors and windows attentively: does water infiltrate? If so, here again, take photographs and try to check the source of this infiltration.
Once the storm has passed, go make a round outside: check the coating, the roof, the swimming pool and all the pieces of furniture and accessories on your grounds. Neglect nothing because if your products are under guarantee (and if they are covered for this type of bad weather), it is important to communicate with the manufacturer or the fitter.
If there is damage, contact your insurer.
Take photographs! Two reasons explain why you must photograph and/or film these anomalies:
- These elements remain as proof of a problem and will be useful for you to show the supplier the condition of the product on the following day. Because this type of weather causes many service calls, it may be that your request will wait for one week! If one speaks about water infiltration and if the weather is nice and sunny the following days, the traces of water will have dried up and the person who will come to inspect will not be able to see anything.
- If the problem persists at the time of another bad-weather situation, you will have an additional proof so that the manufacturer or fitter does something to the problem.
Certain infiltrations or breakings will occur only once. Be vigilant however and check your house thoroughly during and after the storm; you will avoid major surprises later.
